Natural, People-Driven Photography for Advertising Campaigns & Editorial Brands
From international campaigns to editorial commissions, these projects reflect Matthew Lloyd’s approach to photography: cinematic, natural, and rooted in people and place. With a background in photojournalism and deep commercial experience, he creates imagery that feels polished but lived-in, shaped by atmosphere, authenticity and a quiet sense of story.
The Coca Cola Company
A series of reportage stories telling the story of some of The Coca Cola Company’s sustainability initiatives. From youth education in Peckham, to water capture in the Greek Islands, beach cleaning in West Wittering to the recycling of plastic bottles into urban street future. A cinematic set of environmental portraits.
DHL
Global features for DHL Express, with the intention of creating natural, reportage images of DHL staff at work, an update on their dated over-staged imagery. Shoots in Europe, Dubai, China and Nigeria.
Sodastream
Lifestyle campaign for Sodastream , combining the technical requirements of a beverage photography campaign with the natural, images of a reportage lifestyle shoot. The goal is to appear completely unstaged even in an entirely constructed environment.
Land Rover
Land Rovers’ Hibernot campaign, shot on location in the Uk in awful weather. The campaign encouraged people out to adventure, whatever the weather - enabled by the capabilities and comfort of the luxury British car manufacturer.
IHG Regent Hotels
Stills and motion, shot in a totally constructed set in studio, with the intention to show the future look and feel of IHG’s new super premium hotel offering to investors before the properties were even built.
The Peninsula Paris
Campaign combining lifestyle with food and drink photography for the prestigious Peninsula hotel in Paris as it relaunched its Cantonese restaurant Lili.
J Adams & Co
J Adams & Co’s beautiful and timeless luxury lighting, hand crafted by artisans using a mixture of very traditional skills and high-tech technology in Birmingham, UK. Simple but dramatic lighting makes the most of this deeply photogenic location and process, a textbook example of celebrating British heritage and craftsmanship
a beautiful and unusual brief for Asahi Super-Dry involved a fleeting visit to Tokyo to capture mini-vignettes of daily life and culture in the capital, followed by a visit to the brewers Kanagawa site to photograph some of the process and architecture.
Ursus Beer
Ursus beer was another beverage brand that had dated drinks photography that failed to reflect the premium nature of the product. The brief was to create an asset library showing the product being enjoyed in different situations, in a bar, a home party scenario, a family dinner. Their alcohol free offering was also showcased as part of a cycling picnic. Shot on location in Romania over the course of 2 days.
Kraken Rum
Kraken rum had a disparate image library, with varying styles and messaging, variable colour grading and quality. Working with their creative agency we sourced locations that fit their brand’s narrative without looking overly elaborate, styled the interiors and models, and worked on a consistent and distinctive photography style and colour grade, producing an asset library that could be used across all of the brands channels for consistency.
